This is a free eMail newsletter from Online Solutions And Innovation. It is specifically written for our valued customers. You will also find answers to customer Frequently asked questions and specific customer inquiries sent to our Question & Answer Department Ask@OSAI.com.
Don't be fooled by bogus domain registration notices
OSAI customers have contacted us with concerns about receiving invoices for their domain names from companies they did not recognize. Almost all of these letters turned out to be nothing more than a scam. One of these companies goes by the name "Liberty Names of America". The good news is these customers did the right thing by contacting OSAI first before returning the invoice with payment. The bad news is they were about to get scammed with the possibility of losing their domain name!
These scam artists produce some very official looking and carefully written letters/invoices making it easy to be fooled into making payment. Many claim that your domain will expire soon and you must take action and pay them to avoid losing your domain. Don't be fooled by this.
Most OSAI customers register their domain with us and we rarely send domain invoices in the US mail. Normally, when your domain registration fee is due, the charge is listed as a separate line item on your monthly service invoice on the month your domain is up for renewal. Line Item Example: "DNS1001 or DNS1002 - Domain Transfer/Registration".
If you receive a domain expiration notice in the US mail and question its validity, please contact us immediately through our Contact Form
Valuable information about SPAM
Internet Service and Web Hosting Providers battle large amounts of SPAM on a daily basis. In many cases, services providers spend a majority of their customer support resources fighting this problem on a daily basis. Due to client demands, ISP's have had to come up with creative ways to control SPAM from entering their clients inbox as well as making sure legitimate email gets delivered. At the same time, SPAMMERS find creative ways to get around the ISP's ongoing efforts. It’s a rough and tough balancing act. Internet Service providers are caught in a tug of war and the SPAMMERS come out the winners. Local, State and Federal Legislators have talked about the problem but little has been done to enact laws that make SPAMMERS accountable. It costs Internet users and Internet-based businesses billions per year. Junk eMail is "postage due" marketing; it's like a telemarketer calling you collect. The economics of junk eMail encourages massive abuse and because junk eMailers can get into the business very cheaply, the volume of junk eMail increases every day.
Internet Service providers cannot solve this problem alone, They also need customer understanding and support. Customers must realize that Internet Services providers are doing the best they can to control the amount of SPAM reaching a customer's inbox. Customers can also help by bringing this issue to the attention of their Legislators. Hopefully our legislators will respond with laws that will be enforced and put these SPAMMERS where they belong. In jail!
In the meantime, OSAI does offer an low-cost extra layer of protection. Our eMail Defense Service that helps control Viruses and Worms and Unwanted and unsolicited eMail undetected by our blacklists. For additional information please go to: http://www.osai.com/Services/EmailDefense/.
Organization Manager - Manage Accounts, Reset Passwords, Change Internet Mail Addresses
OSAI's Organization Manager is an online tool that allows customers add, remove, and change logon accounts, reset passwords, manage groups, etc...
Every company has three level's of account access. Users, Webmasters and Admins. There is at least one person in every company that has Admin permissions to access all accounts within their organization. Admins have the ability to setup and delete user accounts, change passwords and add SMTP Email Addresses for all users with their particular organization.
Admins should be contacted when users have issues with their account. User's on the other hand, have permissions to manage their own "individual" accounts. They have the ability to add additional SMTP Email Addresses and change their passwords. To access the Organization Manager, go to http://www.osai.com/OrgManager/ and login. To login to Organization Manager use the same user name and password you use to access your email.
Customer Question & Answer Department
Q.How do I check my eMail when I am out of the office?
A.Outlook Web Access (OWA) allows any client with a compatible browser to access our Exchange Server to send and receive eMail. OWA looks and acts much like your Outlook desktop eMail client. With OWA you can access your email from any computer that has Internet access. This comes in handy when you are traveling and want to access your email on the road or from another home or office PC. For complete details go to: http://www.osai.com/FAQ/owa.asp.
